Artificial Intelligence & Robotics
The first National Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics in Nigeria was launched today in Abuja to train and mentor youths in establishing start ups , coding and robotics engineering. India became a major hub for ICT when similar centres were built to support the youth.
Dr Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, on Friday in Abuja, inaugurated the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.The centre seeks to position the country for the Fourth Industrial Revolution that dwells on emerging technologies.
On the recent development, the National Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that include;
- Training facilities
- The digital innovation lab,
- Abuja MIT Reap Office,
- Co-working Space for startups
- Marketspace and Fablab infrastructure.
Why it matters
This center is aimed at harnessing converging technologies that will create an inclusive and human-centered future, building human capital and getting the country ready for the fourth industrial revolution.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, who officially performed the commissioning said that the centre is expected to help Nigeria take advantage of emerging technologies, artificial intelligence and data collection as all these are what will drive a digital economy, news agency Voice of Nigeria reports.
The Minister said that emerging technologies change with time and artificial intelligence is the engine room of the digital economy.
