Google and Life360 team up

Looking for your family? If you have a Google Assistant-enabled device and Life360, all you have to say is “Hey Google, where’s my family?” or “Hey Google, where’s my family on Life360?” to get an update. You can ask about individual locations, too.
In response, you’ll get back each family member’s location or the location of those you asked about. If you’re using a tablet or smartphone, you’ll also get an interactive map to pinpoint the location. This feature can also be used to get an approximate address or a street name and the estimated time it will take them to get home.
This feature will work with a number of Google Assistant-enabled devices, including Nest smart speakers, smart displays, and Android and iOS phones. All you need is a supported device and the Life360 service to get started.
Ready to get started? Here’s how
Step 1: Create a Life360 account. There are a few different options, but Kim recommends the Gold plan. It’s the best value at less than $9 per month (when billed annually) — and it’s the most well-rounded plan. It includes:
- 30 days of location history
- Unlimited place alerts
- Family driving summary and individual driver reports
- Crash detection with emergency dispatch
- 24/7 roadside assistance
- $250 in stolen phone coverage
- Crime reports
- SOS help alert with 24/7 dispatchers
- Identity theft protection and restoration with $25K in coverage per person
Once your account in up and running, you’ll need to connect Google Assistant to your Life360 account.
To connect Life360 to Google Assistant:
- Open the Google Assistant smartphone app
- Tap the + icon in the top-left corner
- Tap on Set up device
To enable the feature, you can start by saying, “Hey Google, where is my family?” on a Google Assistant-enabled device or tap on this link using a device that has Life360 installed.
