Court admits more evidence in Naira Marley’s fraud case.

The ongoing trial of Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley has taken another turn as a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State admitted more evidence presented against the singer.


Naira Marley was in 2019 arraigned before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an 11-count charge bordering on conspiracy, possession of counterfeit credit cards and fraud.

The singer who was granted a bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum, was accused of committing the offence on different dates; between Nov. 26, 2018 and Dec.11, 2018, as well as May 10, 2019.

Marley had denied the charges when he was arraigned before Justice Oweibo on the 20th of May.

Justice Nicolas Oweibo in his ruling on earlier today admitted the Compact Disk containing the phone analysis of the singer, tendered in evidence by the second prosecution witness Anosike Augustine on the ground that the iPhone which was analysed has been admitted in evidence before.

The judge overruled the objection of Naira Marley’s counsel Olalekan Ojo (SAN) and admitted the CD in evidence marked exhibit ‘F.’

“l have considered the agreement of both parties as well as the ground for the objection, I consider the CD to be admissible in view of the nature of this case and the evidence of other prosecution witness,” Oweibo said.
